Abstract

490,150. Television. ELECTRIC & MUSICAL INDUSTRIES, Ltd., and BLUMLEIN, A. D. March 4, 1937, No. 6409. Addition to 455,375. [Class 40 (iii)] To derive framing and line synchronizing signals from mixed synchronizing signals, a condenser 5, in parallel with a resistance 4, is charged under the control of a valve 1, and the time constant of the resistance and condenser is greater than the intervals between the synchronizing signals but is made effectively short by a diode 6 or other unilateral conductor which maintains a predetermined voltage across the condenser in the intervals between the signals. The mixed signals are applied to the input circuit 2, 3 of the valve. The resistance and condenser are in the anode circuit of the valve and the diode is so connected between a potentiometer 9, 10, 11 and the anode that the diode only conducts when the charge on the condenser reaches the predetermined value. The cathode of a diode 7 is connected to the anode of the valve 1 and the anode if the diode is connected to a point 14 on the potentiometer such that the diode conducts only on the occurrence of a framing signal. The diode is connected to the potentiometer through a coil 13 which is coupled to a blocking oscillator producing a saw-tooth wave. When the valve 1 is of the screened-grid type, the line-frequency signals are taken from the screening grid.
