487,769. Colour photography. GROVES, W. W. (I. G. Farbenindustrie Akt.-Ges.) Sept. 22, 1936,No. 25740. [Class 98 (ii)] Multi colour originals or component colour records are copied on to multi layer photographic material having several superimposed silver halide layers which contain colour formers fast to diffusion and the material subjected to colour development. Suitable colour formers are described in Specifications 458,400, 465,823, 475,191, and 479,838. The multi colour original may have been itself produced by colour development, by imbibition printing, by the Indigosol process as in Specification 345,575, by the dyestuff bleaching out process or by the silver bleaching out dye process. Lenticular negatives may also be used. After development, the undeveloped silver halide is not fixed, and a sound record printed on the margin. The sound track is developed in black and white, e.g. by hydroquinone. The whole film may be immersed or the development may be confined to the margin by dipping in the developer. A resist may also be employed. The film is then fixed. In a modification, the picture area alone may be fixed and the sound record copied in the unaltered margin. As colour formers there are specified the dibenzidide of alpha-naphthoic acid for blue greon, 1-4 - palmitoyl aminophenyl - 3 - methyl - 5 - pyrazolone for purple and the benzidide of benzoylacetic acid ester for yellow. Para-amino-dimethylaniline is used as the colour developer.
