Abstract
487,631. Delivering measured quantities of liquids. SEALCONES, Ltd. (Sealcone International Corporation) June 25, 1937, No. 17710. [Class 106 (v)] Apparatus for delivering measured quantities of liquid into containers comprises a supply tank in communication with a measuring chamber, the inlet valve of the chamber being movable upwardly to open the inlet and downwardly with the outlet of the measuring device to close the inlet, said downward movement of the outlet operating to open the outlet valve if a container is correctly positioned beneath the outlet. In one form, Figs. 2 and 5, a number of measuring chambers 23 depend from the bottom of the tank T and are operated by means of rods 41 extending from the outlet valves 39 through the chambers and the tank to an actuating bar 42 which is vertically reciprocated from a driven shaft 46. Each chamber has an inlet valve 31 normally resting on a seat 33 to close the inlet and an outlet comprising a tubular member 25 on which is slidably mounted a sleeve 35 urged downwardly by a spring 44 into contact with the outlet valve 39. In operation, starting from the position shown in Fig. 5, as the rod 41 moves upwardly the outlet is closed and the inlet valve lifted by a clip 58 on the rod. On downward movement of the rod the inlet valve is allowed to close and the valve 39 and sleeve 35 move downwardly together. If the movement of the sleeve 35 is limited by a container C, the continued movement of the valve 39 opens the outlet passages 38. An air vent is provided by a tube 45 extending upwardly from the valve 31. In a modified form, Fig. 12, each measuring chamber is positioned within the tank and is filled through inlets 61 controlled by a sleeve 63 reciprocated by driven members 75a. The outlet is normally closed by a ball 65 resting on a seating 66. If downward movement of a nozzle 67 is arrested by a container C an upstanding member 73 of the nozzle unseats the ball and allows the discharge of the measured quantity.
