Abstract

486,531. Loom dobbies. WEBSTER, J. Dec. 4, 1936, No. 33264. [Class 142 (i)] In a loom for weaving a single fabric or two superposed fabrics connected or not at intervals each heald shaft 9 is connected by two cables 10a, 10b and levers 12, 13 to two opposed levers, e.g. 14a, 15a, on a common shaft 16, each of the levers 14, 15 having a hook 18, 19 which can be raised to engage a fixed griffe 21 or 22, lowered to engage a moving griffe 23 or 24, or held in an intermediate free position by a peg drum 54 or other pattern device. The griffes 23, 24, also the roller griffes 45, are reciprocated in opposite directions by the T-lever 36. After every shedding the levers 14, 15 are brought to the vertical position by the griffes 45 and consequently all the sets of warps to the centre shed position. The hooks 18, 19 corresponding to any warp which remains in the centre-shed position engage the fixed griffes 21, 22. When weaving two separate fabrics the levers 14, 15 corresponding to two sets of warps move only from the vertical position to the position 14a, 15a, and those corresponding to the other two sets of warps from the vertical position to the position 14d, 15d. When weaving a single fabric some or all of the warps cross the centre shed position and the corresponding levers 14, 15 move to both sides of the vertical.
