Abstract

486,333. Resilient mountings. ENGLISH ELECTRIC CO., Ltd., and BINNEY, E. A. Jan. 29, 1937, No. 2627. [Class 108 (iii)] [Also in Group XXXI] Resilient means for mounting a machine on the side of a vehicle or structure comprises separate mounting members on which the machine is pivotally mounted about two longitudinal axes both lying on one side of the machine, and resilient fastening means securing the mounting members to the supporting structure, the resilient means lying along the line of the resultant load and being subjected to substantially pure compression or tension. As shown, an air compressor, motor generator, &c. 1 is supported in an overhanging position on a bracket 6 by known resilient supports comprising a rubber sleeve 7 in a cup 8 welded at 8a to a boss 6a, an internal bush 9 being secured by a bolt 10 to a channel bracket 3 or to two angle brackets 5. The brackets 3, 5 are connected to lugs la, 1b by bolts &c. 2, the axes of which are parallel to the axis of the compressor &c. Two upper lugs 1a at each end of the compressor, and a lower central lug 1b may be used.
