Abstract
486,272. Laminated springs. PERCIVAL, S. (Jacobs Co., F. L.) Aug. 23, 1937, No. 23110. [Class 108 (iii)] A spring clip for applying opposed lateral pressures to the edges of the leaves of a leafspring comprises two parts, one being formed of channel shape to encompass at least three sides of the spring, the sides 6, 8 of the part having inwardly-extending portions 18, 20 for positively engaging the opposite edges of at least one intermediate leaf, and the second part or locking member 26 being adapted to engage the sides of the first part to draw them towards each other for fixing the clip on the spring. As shown, the portions 18, 20 engage the opposite edges of all the leaves surrounded by the clip. Flanges 28, 30 on the locking member 26 are engaged with flanges 14, 16 on the ends of the clip and the member 26 then forced downwardly to lock the flanges together. In modifications, (a) the portions 18, 20 engage the edges of an intermediate leaf or leaves only, the other leaves fitting tightly into the corners of the clip ; and (b) the sides of the clip are curved to engage an intermediate leaf.
