Abstract

485,936. Vehicle doors. LIGHTALLOYS, Ltd., GRIEVE, W. H., and KNIGHT, W. S. Nov. 27, 1936, No. 32511. [Class 103 (ii)] [Also in Group X] The body portion of an all-metal sliding door for road or rail vehicles or ships comprises spaced metal sheets 1, 2, Fig. 4, riveted together and provided with openings for the reception of channelled window frame members 5 which are secured between the sheets. A glassretaining strip 6, Fig. 3, along the upper edge of the window is detachably secured to a rigid strip 8 attached to the inner metal sheet, and when removed permits of the insertion or removal of the window pane in a vertical direction. A cast metal or built-up undercarriage 16 is secured between the metal sheets at the bottom thereof and is provided with wheels or rollers 17, which may be of the kind described in Specification 238,970, [Class 20 (iii)]. The closing edge of the door is of channel shape for the attachment of a moulded rubber sealing strip of the kind described in Specification 463,801. Specifications 286,080 and 338,311, [both in Class 103 (ii)], also are referred to, the former in the Provisional Specification only.
