Abstract

485,258. Siphon bottles; storing gases under pressure. LOZON, C. F., and JACOBS, E. Aug. 28, 1937, No. 23629. [Class 14 (i)] [Also in Group XXVIII] A siphon bottle comprises a container 8 having a wide mouth, and a closure 11 secured thereto by bayonet joint members 13, 14. A gasket 15 of the shape shown is compressed between a flange 10 on the container and a shoulder 16 on the closure. Secured by welding in an opening 21 in the closure is a capsule-holder 22 having a tubular piercer 40 and a gasket 45 secured in its lower end. The holder and the capsule have interengaging ribs and grooves 25, 27 to prevent rotation of the capsule, and the latter comprises a thin bottom 30 and a top 28 secured to the body 26 by a seam 29. The holder has a flange 24 with a horizontal rim 31 formed with recesses to co-operate with projections 33 on a cover member 34, to provide a bayonet joint connection therefor. The cover carries a screw 38 for forcing the capsule against the piercer. The discharge valve comprises a body member 49 secured in the closure 11 and screw-threaded to receive a nut 57 which secures a seat member 53 and the siphon tube 55. A valve member 59 is held closed by a spring 60 so that it acts as a safety valve, and is opened by rocking a lever 62.
