[Class 6 (i)] The rotary seed distributer for planting single seeds described in connection with the seed drill of the parent Specification is replaced by a, distributer shown in Fig. 4 for sowing a continuous row. of seeds. The conical body 29 instead of being provided with pockets is formed round its lower edge with a groove 32 having widely spaced upstanding fins 33 for keeping the seeds moving with the distributer. The fins do not extend the full height of the groove so that the continuity of the row of seeds is unbroken. Fig. 3 shows the distributer within a box 1 to which seeds are introduced through an opening 38 from a hopper. The distributer is secured to the squared end of the spindle 8 by means of a nut 26 and is given a rotary movement from the ground wheels through bevel wheels 17 and shafting 18 and a reciprocating or vibratory movement in a vertical direction by means of a toothed wheel 21 on the spindle 8 engaging a fixed toothed member 20. The latter can be adjusted vertically by a screw 24 to vary or stop the vibration of the spindle S. The spindle 8 is supported by a spring 28 at its lower end. Within the box I is a cylindrical baffle 34 having an opening 40 which registers with a discharge aperture 41 in the box 1. Seeds are delivered from the box 1 to the groove 32 through a gap in the baffle and are carried round bv the distributer till they reach the openings 40, 41 when they fall into the coulter tube 4 in front of which is a share 5. The distributer 29 can be removed by unscrewing the nut 26 and replaced by a distributer of the kind described in the parent Specification. The whole apparatus may be raised and lowered as described in the parent Specification. Instead of being in the form of a cone the distributer may be in the form of a disc with a groove in its periphery. The Provisional Specification states that to prevent scattering of the seeds the wall of the coulter tube towards which the seeds are discharged may be shaped or hollowed or made concave, and the distributer may be rotated by a flexible drive.
