Abstract

An accumulator plate is provided with a covering of vulcanized microporous rubber. The rubber is deposited on the plate from an aqueous rubber dispersion. The plate may first be wetted with a coagulant such as sulphuric acid, acetic acid or calcium chloride solution. In an example, the plate is dipped in a mixture of latex, sulphur, zinc oxide, calcium sulphate, gum arabic, ultra-accelerator and water. A layer of rubber is deposited on the plate which is then vulcanized in steam in an autoclave.
