[Class 108 (iii)] [Also in Groups XXIV and XXXIII] Consists in a mechanical remote control comprising stations each having a movable control element urged in one sense by the effort of a spring and means for maintaining the effect of the efforts constant in all positions of the control elements, and also in a remote control between two stations having a mechanical bond connecting movable elements at each, spring-means at each station for keeping the bond in tension, and means for maintaining the effort exerted by each spring-means substantially constant in all positions of the control. At the operator's station a hand lever 2 is pivoted at 3 to a casing 1. To the lever is riveted a quadrant 4 to receive the flexible cable 5 which passes over a pulley 7. A link 10, pivoted at 11, carries a cam-follower roller 9, and a fork 12 which forms the upper end of a telescopic member 13 surrounded by a compression spring 14 and rocking in the bearing 15. The receiver or operated station has an exactly similar construction and an operated member 16 connected to the part to be controlled. The cam 8 is so shaped that the moment exerted on the lever 2 is of constant value in all positions, the effective radius of the cam varying with the degree of compression of the spring. The pulley quadrant 4 may have a fusee action. Part of the cable 5 may be replaced by levers and rods. According to the Provisional Specification, the quadrant may be adjustable on the lever and, if the direction of effect of the springs be reversed, a continuous compression bond may be provided by a rod and link system.
