Abstract

482,370. Valve generating circuits. WHITE, E. L. C., and BLUMLEIN, A. D. Aug. 27, 1936, No. 23489. [Class 40 (v)] A valve 7 supplies saw-tooth current to a winding 8, which is coupled to an inductive load 11, such as the deflecting coil of a cathode-ray tube, a diode 12, or the equivalent, is connected across a portion of the winding or of a coupled winding, and the ratio of turns in the winding is such that the average current in the diode is equal to, or greater than, the average current in the valve. The current from the diode stores energy in a condenser 14, which assists the flow of anode current in the valve. The input of the valve is coupled to a generator 1 of saw-tooth waves, and the winding forms the primary of a transformer 9, the secondary 10 of which is in circuit with the deflecting coil. An adjustable resistance 16 in the common supply to the anode of the blocking oscillator 1 and to the screening grid of the pentode 7 varies simultaneously the amplitude of the voltage fed to the controlling grid and the voltage supplied to the screening grid. This maintains the shape of the output wave similar for all amplitudes.
