Abstract
482,114. Aerials. MARCONI'S WIRELESS TELEGRAPH CO., Ltd. Sept. 18, 1937, No. 25392. Convention date, Oct. 8, 1936. [Class 40 (v)] A short-wave aerial having sharply-directional properties consists of two parallel openended wires 7, 8 having a length of from 0À4 to 0À5 #, and bent into almost a complete circle, the space between the open ends being of the order 0À01 to 0À02 #, and the separation between the two wires being of the same order. The maximum directivity is in the plane of the two wires, away from their open ends. The two wires 9, 10 of the feed-line are connected to the two ends, as shown in Fig. 2, or intermediately as shown in Fig. 5. Instead of taking the feed-lines towards the centre of the circle, they may extend outwards and away from it, Fig. 4 (not shown). Fig. 6 shows a method of mounting the aerial so that it can be oriented in three dimensions.
