Abstract

481,835. Oil-gas generation. KISS, S. A. May 14, 1937, No. 13667. [Class 55 (ii)] In the production of oil-gas containing a. large proportion of unsaturated hydrocarbons, particularly acetylene, which may be converted, such as by polymerization, into aliphatic or aromatic organic liquids, from oils, tars, waxes, coal-oil mixtures &c., the raw material is quickly heated to a temperature above 800‹ C. under a pressure of at least 7 atmospheres and maintained under these conditions until a product which is gaseous at normal temperature and pressure is obtained. Preferred temperature and pressure ranges specified are 800 to 900‹ C. and 12 to 20 atmospheres respectively, and the material may primarily be preheated to 430‹ C. The raw material is pumped through an insulated electrically heated metal tube comprising preheating and reaction zones 1, 2, a valve 16 being opened after the conversion. The gaseous mixture is stored in a holder 17 after cooling in a condenser 3, or after partial cooling therein, is converted to liquids in a polymerization zone 4, which are then cooled and stored in a receiver 19. A polymerization temperature of 500 to 550‹ C. may be used. In an example, a homogenized mixture of 50 parts by weight of deashed coal, 30 of mid-continent crude oil and 20 of coal tar is passed through a nickel-chromiumsteel alloy tube, using preheating and reaction temperatures of 430 and 830‹ C. and a pressure of 20 atmospheres. Complete gasefication results with only traces of coke deposition. Specifications 16600/06, [Class 55], 17822/15, [Class 55 (i)], and 360,404 are referred to,
