Abstract
481,703. Clocks. ETABLISSEMENTS E. JAEGER. May 19, 1937, No. 13996. Convention date, June 18, 1936. [Class 139] In a clock of the type comprising transparent front and rear faces 4 between which are arranged two intermediate transparent discs 15, 16 driven at their periphery from suitable chronometric mechanism in the clock base and carrying members 17, 18 indicating the minutes and hours, these members do not extend to the centre of the discs 15, 16 which carry them and the discs are supported and rotatably guided by rollers 20 pivotally mounted in the clock base. A self-starting synchronous motor drives a vertical shaft marked at its upper end 57, Fig. 2, for observation purposes and carrying a screw which meshes with a helical wheel 33 on a shaft which, in turn, drives a shaft 38 in a similar manner, a pinion 39 thereon meshing with a gear-wheel 44 frictionally secured to a shaft 41 by a spring 43 while a gear-wheel 13 fixed to the shaft 41 engages and drives the toothed rim 11, Fig. 4, surrounding the minute hand transparent disc 15, the hour hand disc 16 being driven similarly by a gear-wheel 14 after suitable speed reduction by gears 47, 48, 50. The knob 53 fixed to shaft 41 serves for setting the clock right. Suitable ring members 24, 25 screen the mechanism from outside observation.
