Abstract
481,359. Vehicle fittings for loading. SPINK, A. Aug. 24, 1937, No. 23290/36. [Classes 78 (iii) and 78 (iv)] Anti-friction rollers F, adapted to be raised above the floor A of a vehicle to facilitate loading and unloading of a load container, are journalled in frames G, situated in channels C in the floor A. and provided at intervals with inclines y for engagement with rollers H on carriages J which are traversed by screws j<1> for raising and lowering the frames G with their rollers F. As shown, there are two longitudinal roller frames G their operating screws j<1> being connected by bevel gears j<2> with a a cross-shaft j<4> having square ends for receiving an operating handle. The floor A is pivoted at K to the rear of the vehicle chassis so that it can be tilted, and ramps can be extended from the rear of the floor to ground level. A winch L is provided for manipulating the load, its rope passing over a jockey pulley l<5>. The container may be secured in position and loose material discharged therefrom by tilting the floor. The rollers F may alternatively be disposed transversely of the vehicle for sideways loading and unloading.
