Abstract

481,340. Valve gear. BUGATTI, E. April 12, 1937, No. 10397. Convention date, April 18, 1936. [Class 7 (vi)] The cam or other valveactuating shafts of multicylinder engines have driving-connections which allow for relative movement between the cylinders and comprise a spindle having driving engagement with the interior of a hollow part of the shaft. The Figure shows cylinders C<1> . . C<4> with hollow shafts 10, 3, 11, 24 respectively connected together by driving-spindles 7, 12, and 14, each formed at its ends with toothed portions 8 engaging corresponding toothed portions 6 within the hollow shafts. The spindles may abut endto-end, either directly through convex surfaces 19, 20, or with interposed springs or rubber discs, and springs 16 or 21 may be provided tending to move the spindles to a limited extent towards the right.
