[Class 17 (ii)] A metatarsal pad for insertion in boots and shoes is approximately heart - shaped with a lower tapering lobe a and two upper lateral lobes b, c which lie on an axis BB which is oblique to that AA of the lower lobe and the surface convexity decreases from the point of intersection of these axes towards the edges, cellular spaces being provided on the under side. The pad may be stuck to or inserted in a pocket in a sole member, or may be stuck by suction to the shoe insole.
