Abstract
480,067. Inductances; control systems for consumption apparatus. BRITISH THOMSON-HOUSTON CO., Ltd. May 10, 1937, No. 13297. Convention date, May 9, 1936. [Classes 38 (ii) and 38 (iv)] Relates to a choke in which the core is variably saturated by D.C. fed from the choke through a rectifier to regulate the reactance, and consists in supplying the D.C. to the main windings which are so arranged as to be non-inductive with respect to the D.C. circuit. As shown in the Figure, a bridge arrangement of four windings is mounted on a core 1 and the A.C. circuit is connected to one diagonal and the D.C. saturating current supplied to the other diagonal from a transformer through a rectifier G. In a modification for a three phase circuit, two star connected chokes are connected in parallel to the A.C. circuit and the D.C. saturating current supply connected between the star points. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 also described modifications in which separate saturating windings were used. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
