Abstract

479,622. Mudguards. KIRKNESS, J. Oct. 20, 1936, No. 28495. [Class 136 (i)] A metal mudguard for road-vehicle wheels comprises a main portion fitting over the periphery of the wheel, and an upper flat facing or flanged frame which is fixed to the underside of the vehicle floor or framework. As shown, a main portion 4 is integral with a flat open rectangular flanged frame 5, the flange of which is secured by bolts 6 to the longitudinal members 7 of the vehicle floor. The rectangular opening in the frame 5 is closed by a sheet 8 of linoleum, metal, or other material interposed between the frame 5 and the vehicle floor 9. Cross bearers 10 are secured to the longitudinal members 7 in front and rear of the frame 5, and may be bolted thereto. A rubber or other flexible flap 11 may be fixed to the trailing edge of the mudguard.
