Abstract
477,919. Preparing peat. BRAMMING, K., and HENRIKSEN, W. July 13, 1936, No. 19461. [Class 50] [Also in Group XIII] Humic acids and salts are removed from peat by treating with basic salts or alkali hydroxides in equivalent quantities and dissolving out the resulting water-soluble compounds with water. The fibrous residue is suspended in water, pressed to remove water, dried at 80‹ C., and heated to about 200‹ C. so that the bituminous substances impregnate the fibres.
