Abstract

477,713. Gas burners. MAIN, Ltd., R. & A., and WORTLEY, G. W. Sept. 11, 1936, 24831. [Class 75 (i)] In a gas burner having an outlet slit encircling the head, the appropriate length of the slit for a required heating capacity is provided in a head having a comparatively small periphery by arranging the slit to follow a tortuous path around the head. As shown, the slit 14 is formed between serrated conical faces 15, 16 of an annular member 12 and a solid cover 13 secured by a bolt 19 to the body 10. Three equidistant rounded or conical projections on the face 12 engage recesses 18 on the face 16 for spacing, and preventing relative rotation of, the parts 12, 13. The slit extends inwardly and downwardly through the head at an angle of between 30‹ and 45‹ to the vertical. The upturned end 11 of the body 10 is located in a recess or channel in the member 12.
