475,939. Egg &c. cartons. LEVINE, H. May 27, 1936, No. 14911. [Class 18] A collapsable cellular carton for eggs, &c. comprises a pair of similarly shaped side panels 16 ; 41, 42, and a plurality of transverse partitions 12a, 12b ; 33 ... 39, interconnecting the side panels, the partitions being formed symmetrically about their vertical axes, with top and bottom tags oppositely inclined to provide spaced edge portions which support and retain the foldable sections 13, 14, 15, 17, 18, 19 of each side panel, the expanded carton being substantially of figure-eight cross section. The end partitions may carry projections 24, 43 which engage apertures 25, 44, to lock the cover portions in position. In the modification shown in Fig. 18, the partitions are formed from a single cut and folded blank attached to the side panel members at 31, 32, but the partitions, Fig. 16, may be separate and attached by glue, &c., at 23 to the side panels. Alternatively, they may be attached thereto by an interlocking tongue and slot connection. The side panel members may be perforated to allow of access to any one compartment.
