Abstract

475,518. Cleaning and abrading brushes; reciprocating pumps. SUMMERS, A. V. May 21, 1936, Nos. 14407/36 and 11039/37. [Classes 19 and 60] [Also in Group XXVIII] A portable electric cleaning and polishing tool particularly useful in cleaning windows, floors and the like with liquids, comprises a motor 1, Fig. 1, directly driving a transverse shaft projecting at each end 2, 3, and a hollow handle 20 with a container therein for cleaning liquid together with a pump 27, Fig. 2, operated by a hand lever 31. Detachable pads 2 are provided at each end of the shaft and in place of one is a bracket 14 on the motor casing to which a stationary cleaning pad 12 may be attached. The bracket may be in line with the driving shaft or at an angle thereto, but so placed that a second rotary pad may be attached to the shaft after removal of the stationary pad. The pump comprises a spring- pressed piston 26 sliding in a barrel 19 and provided with a depending tube 27. There is a ball valve 28 at the bottom of the tube 29 and another ball 22 spring pressed at 30 leading to a hinged delivery tube 24.
