Abstract

<PICT:0473163/IV/1> Liquid in a dyevat, tank or other container is reversibly circulated by air forced by pressure of steam by means of a steam-air injector upwards through either one of two ducts in the tank. The injector communicates with a rotatably mounted perforated pipe d which may be turned by a handle M to discharge, through holes or nozzles, into one or other of two ducts D<1>, D<2>. The duct D<2> extends upwards from or below the level of the bottom of the material in the vat or tank to above the top of the material, and the duct D<3> extends upwards from near the bottom of the duct D<1> into an elevated tank or reservoir E. A duct D<3> extends from the reservoir E to the space below the material in the vat. A pivoted flap F, connected to the pipe d by a link f<1>, closes the bottom of the duct D<1> when the injector is discharging into the duct D<2>. A pivoted deflecting plate G operated by a handle g is arranged as shown at the top of the duct D<1> to deflect the current of liquid when the injector is discharging into the duct D<1>. The material to be treated, e.g. yarn in hank form, hose and other small articles, is suspended on sticks or rods b from an upper grid a, or is placed in a cage in the tank.
