Abstract
473,047. Seats. RENAULT, L. Jan. 27, 1937, No. 2438. Convention date, March 27, 1936. [Classes 52 (ii) and 52 (iv)] Flexible seat and back panels of a seat comprise spaced canvas bands 4, 5, 6 and 13, 14 connected together by one or more elements 7, 12 of rubber or like resilient material arranged to permit a greater degree of elasticity at a selected part of each panel than at the other parts thereof. The seat comprises a tubular frame 1, to the side members of which the seat and back panels are attached, the rear edge of the seat panel and the lower edge of the back panel being attached to coil springs 10,18. In the seat panel, the space between the canvas bands is greater at the rear than at the front, while in the back panel the upper part of the rubber element 12 is apertured to allow greater elasticity. In a modification, a lacing of rubber cord 22, Fig. 5, connects the canvas bands 20, 21, the cord being tapered in diameter to obtain variation in elasticity.
