[Classes 142 (ii) and 142 (iii)] Warp threads are supplied to a circular loom from a single beam 70 by passing them through a diametrically arranged comb 71 and spreading them round the loom in uniformly spaced bands by means of reeds 72 and guide rollers 73. Each band of threads is operated upon by a shedding unit comprising heddles 21, 22 mounted on an endless cable 20 that is reciprocated by a grooved cam 17 and a slide 18 moving on fixed guides 19. The weft is inserted by a shuttle 14 carried by a gear driven carriage 15 and is beaten up by reed segments 78 each of which is pivotally mounted on a block 46 and carries a rearwardly extending fork 84 embracing a pin on a slide 49. The slides 46, 47 are slidably mounted on rods 44, 45 respectively and are adjustably or otherwise connected to a lever 51 operated by a grooved cam 43. The rods 19, 44 and 45 are carried by a stationary support comprising two superposed rings 56, 59 connected by vertical ribs 57, which are uniformly spaced to accommodate the shedding units.
