[Class 100 (ii)] Inking-apparatus.-Modifications of the inking-apparatus described in the parent Specification, in which a number of sets of inkrubbing rollers are arranged between the ink supply and the main distributers, to grind the ink and increase its fluidity, the sets delivering ink alternately to the distributers comprise (1) the provision of ink transferring devices, e.g. rocking messenger rollers, between the sets of ink-rubbing rollers and the first main distributing roller, and (2) the arrangements of the sets of ink-rubbing rollers so that they are movable relatively to one another instead of being all mounted on a common carrier. (1) In one form, Fig. 1, two pairs 1, 2 and 3, 4 of ink-rubbing rollers are mounted in a fixed carrier and ink is applied to them from the duct roller 12 and delivered therefrom to the distributing roller 9 by pairs of messenger rollers 5, 7 and 6, 8. In other forms, the carrier for the ink-rubbing rollers is mounted to rock to bring the rollers into and out of contact with the messenger rollers. The rollers may be mounted in the carrier with their axes in substantially a straight line, and the rollers of each pair may be of different sizes. In another form, Fig. 4, four pairs of rollers 30 .. 33 are mounted in a rotating carrier and co-operate successively with ink receiving and ink delivery messenger rollers 35, 36. (2) Fig. 7 shows an arrangement in which the outer rollers 40, 41a of the pairs of rubbing rollers are mounted independently of the rocking carrier 42. carrying the inner rollers 40a, 41.
