Abstract

472,467. Vehicle-fittings for loading &c. GREENWOOD, F., and SPINK, A. Dec. 23, 1935, No. 35503. [Class 78 (iv)] A movable vehicle floor for loading and unloading, which simply rests on driving and supporting chains without permanent connection thereto, comprises a series of slats 21, Fig. 7, with bent ends 22 interconnected to form a flexible structure by channeled members 23 which rest in recesses of the links 25 of hand or motor driven chains stretching longitudinally or laterally of the vehicle. In a modified form the bent ends 22 may be of arcuate shape. This floor may be used in conjunction with an adjustable skid or inclined platform on to which the floor may be run. The skid may be furnished with a driven conveyer chain to assist the movement of the platform, and may be stowed away under the vehicle when not in use. Fig. 2 shows two pairs of chains 2, 3, on which the floor rests, the inner pair 3 being driven by rotating the shaft 13 by a hand crank, thus rotating the sprockets 8 through the gearing 16, 17. A winding drum 15 driven by hand from the shaft 29 may be used to assist in drawing loads on to the ramp. Fig. 5 shows the movable floor raised bodily at its forward end so as to be in line with the ramp 18. When the ramp is not used, the floor can be wound up on a reel 27 on the vehicle as it discharges a load.
