Abstract
470,282. Recoil - loading firearms. SANDERS SMALL ARMS, Ltd., and SANDERS, T. F. Feb. 26, 1936, No. 5812. [Classes 92 (ii) and 119] Relates to firearms automatically reloaded by the recoil of the gun relatively to an inertia, member or a fixed support and in which slotted rotary discs are used to effect the locking of the breech bolt. According to the invention, the breech bolt 3, Fig. 7, is locked by a single rotary disc-like member 6 pivoted above the breech on a substantially central vertical axis on the breech casing 1 and having a lug 7 projecting forwards to engage a rearward facing shoulder 8 on the bolt and a spring 11, Fig. 4, for urging the disc to the locking position. The recoil of the barrel and bolt relatively to an inertia weight 10 when the gun is fired causes a pin 12 and shoulder 13 on the weight to rotate the locking member to the unlocking position where a slot 9 in the member comes opposite the shoulder 8 of the bolt and allows the bolt to move away from the barrel to open the breech. In a modification, a crank on the locking member is operated by a pin on a fixed support relatively to which the barrel and bolt recoil.
