Abstract
470,057. Fourdrinier paper making machines. POLLAK, J. E. (Beloit Iron Works) Nov. 9, 1936, No. 30558. [Class 96] Pulp from a valvecontrolled pipe 47 enters a division 36 of the flowbox 30 and flows across the travelling wire-cloth 10 at the bottom of the box, part being carried beneath a ledge 46 of a slice or partition 34 in the box, and the remainder flowing round the end of the slice 34 and again across the wire 10 whereon a second pulp - layer is thus deposited, excess pulp discharging through a pipe 49 having a valve 50. The slices 34, 35 are adjustable as to height, and position along the wire-cloth 10. Suction is. applied from a partitioned box beneath the wire 10 and flow-box 30, the wirecloth being supported by table rolls in bearing shells lubricated, e.g. by water. In a modification, a pulp supply is fed to the divisions 36, 37 of the box from opposite sides of it. A wellfelted web of similar or differing plies may thus be produced without shaking the wire-cloth.
