Abstract

469,991. Vehicle spring-suspensions. MORRIS COMMERCIAL CARS, Ltd., and LEEDING, E. J. April 12, 1937, No. 10315. [Class 108 (ii)] In vehicles having three or more spring pairs of road wheels the spring suspension of those pairs which lie most remote from the vertical plane passing through the centre of gravity of the spring portion of the vehicle is more flexible than those which are nearer such vertical plane in order to reduce the pitching effects due to travelling over rough ground. As shown, the springs 5, 6, 8 are more flexible than the spring 7 which lies nearer the centre of gravity as indicated by the arrow and further those springs such as 5, 8 are more flexible than those such as 6, which lie nearer the centre of gravity. The flexibility of the springs may be in proportion, if necessary, to their distance from the centre of gravity.
