Abstract

468,482. Rollers. STOWE-WOODWARD, Inc. July 14, 1936, No. 19559. Convention date, Oct. 17, 1935. [Class 42 (ii)] A light but rigid roller such as is used in paper-making machines consists of an inner tube 1 of brass, steel, aluminium, &c. with inwardly depressed strengthening ribs 2 extending substantially the length of the roller and spaced widely apart, and an outer shell 4 of brass, rubber, &c. which may have projections 3 engaging the depressions 2. The end 6 of the roller is grooved to correspond with the ribs 2. The outer shell 1 or a separate plate may cover at 7 the ends of the ribs 2 and the joint between parts of the shell roll.
