Abstract
467,611. Supply systems for cathoderay tubes. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO., Ltd., and JESTY, L. C. Dec. 23, 1935, No. 35577. [Class 38 (iv)] [Also in Group XL] In cathode-ray tubes of television receivers or other apparatus containing a diaphragm 6 cutting off the peripheral portion of the electron beam so that no part thereof strikes the electrodes 4, 5 of an electrostatic lens, the electrode 4 and diaphragm 6 are spaced apart and fed from an independent potentiometer of high impedance, such as 4 megohms, not absorbing a large fraction of the power required to operate the tube. Variations in the voltage of the diaphragm 6 due to the varying current to it and to the impedance of its supply potentiometer do not affect the field between it and the electrode 4 sufficiently to produce any deterioration of the focusing of the beam, and as the potentials of the electrodes 4, 5 do not vary, the focusing thus remains constant. The two potentiometers are fed from a single lowimpedance source. Potentials and dimensions are specified.
