[Class 80 (iii)] [Also in Group X] A window-regulating mechanism of the type comprising two chains A, A<1>, each flexible in one direction only, placed back to back to form a rigid stay, is characterized by the employment of flexible backing strips A<4> on the chains to prevent undue wear of the chain deflecting and guiding device. One end of the stay is connected to a bracket A<2>. mounted upon the sash frame and the chains and strips are separated and guided by a member positioned between two rollers A<5>, carried by a bracket F4 on the window frame, over which they pass and enter guide-tubes H4, H5, the end of one chain and strip being attached to any suitable actuating means H, the end of the other being free. A plurality of windows may be operated by connecting the chain members of each window stay to an endless rope or chain system operable from one end.
