Abstract

466,449. Vehicle spring-suspensions. KOLBE, J. July 17, 1936; No. 19914. Convention date, July 30, 1935. Addition to 417,067. [Class 108 (ii)] In vehicles in which the body is supported from the axles or chassis by inclined links as described in the parent Specification restoring springs are provided arranged between the links and the body. Fig. 6 shows an arrangement in which the body 4 is carried from the axle 1 by inclined links 2, 3 and coiled springs 20 are connected at one end to a link projection 23 and at the other end to a pivoted arm 25. In the position shown the right-hand spring 20 is compressed and supplies the restoring force while the left-hand spring is unstressed owing to the anticlockwise movement of the arm 25. Fig. 10 shows an arrangement employing a laminated spring 30 clamped at the centre to the body 4 and connected by short links at its ends to extensions 32, 33 of the supporting links 2, 3. In the position shown the spring is stressed, due to the movement of the lever extensions of the links 2, 3. Fig. 11 shows the body end of the link 3 connected to one end of a torsion rod spring 40 the other end of which is anchored to the body at 43, 44. In another modification rubber discs acting in torsion are employed.
