Abstract
465,359. Road gutters ; metal blocks. JONES, F. W. VALLE-. Nov. 7, 1935, No. 30848. [Classes 87 (i) and 107] A gutter channel for a road is formed of rectangular cast iron or steel sections 1 which are laid on but not embedded in the concrete or like foundation carrying the road carpet 11. The sections are connected end to end by interengaging projections and recesses provided on their end faces and may have longitudinal grooves 2 in their upper surfaces. The lower surfaces have recesses 3 formed by side flanges 4 and longitudinal and transverse webs 5. The joints between the sections may be sealed with bitumen or caulked with lead or the like, and a bitumen jointing may also be used between the sections and the kerb and between the sections and the road carpet.
