Abstract

464,727. Filtering-media. HEVALOID AKT.-GES. June 23, 1936, No. 17470. Convention date, Jan. 11. [Class 46] [Also in Groups II and XXII] A porous metal article, such as a filter plate, is composed of small elongated or thread-like unorientated metal particles 1 such as scraps of wire or metal sheet, turnings, or elongated filings, entwined with one another, which may or may not be united by means of a layer of more readily fusible metal or alloy which may entirely coat them and may protect them from oxidation ; or the particles may be united by being heated by high-frequency currents while under pressure, and in presence of a neutral or reducing gas. In some cases powder of an auxiliary metal such as copper and a volatile liquid such as alcohol may be mixed with the particles before heating, the metal of the powder forming a coating on the particles.
