Abstract
463,048. - Vehicle opening tops. HOSKINS, J. E. Sept. 18, 1935, No. 25830. [Class 108 (i)] In vehicle roofs having closable apertures, one or more panels are employed which are adapted to be moved into inclined position to open the roof and also to be removed from the roof for storage or to be slid longitudinally. As shown in Figs. 1 and 4, the panels a are pivoted at b and adapted. to be swung into the opening position by bell-crank levers c operable either singly or simultaneously by a rod d. The pivots b are provided with flats so that the panels when vertical can be removed from the roof. Figs. 8 and 9 show panels a, the pivots of which are arranged to slide longitudinally, the panels a being pivoted to levers x which are themselves pivoted to the fixed roof. Fig. 9 shows how the panels are adapted to close on the continued movement of the panels having an opening at the front or rear. The operating means comprises a screwed rod t and nut w.
