[Class 122 (v)] In a shaft packing comprising a leather &c packing having an out wardly extending flange 28 and an axially extending flange 26 sur rounded by a coil spring 24 and mounted in a housing 12, the spring is positioned at the free end of the flange 26 by an axially extending flange 42 on a washer 22 positioned between the leather packing and its housing.
