Abstract
461,692. Making cycle frames. MULLER, H. May 16, 1935, No. 14431. Void. Convention date, May 16, 1934. [Class 83 (ii)] The connecting tubes of a cycle frame are formed of metal having a small specific weight such as an almninium alloy containing chromium, the sockets and the ends of the tubes being screwed together by means ot tine threads. The sockets may be of malleable cast iron or of strong aluminium alloys. Such screwed joints are employed between the steering head a and the tubes b, c, the saddle-socket d and the tube b, the pedal-bearing casing e and the tubes c, f, and i, the back fork pieces l and the tubes i, m, and the tubes m, and the strut ends n. The tube f is secured to the saddle-socket d, Fig. 2, by a steel sleeve h having internal and external threads. The joints are stated to be rendered secure by seizing of the parts. Pins may be passed through the joints. The frames may be coated by varnishing or by anodic oxidation.
