Abstract
461,600. Steam turbines. TONGEREN, H. VAN. June 22, 1936, No. 17331. Convention date, July 2, 1935. [Class 110 (iii)] In order to drain condensation water in a steam turbine, a circumferential collecting groove 7 is formed in the inner wall of the casing 2 so that the drops of water thrown out by the blades on the rotor 1 are caught by a moving annular body of water in the bottom of the groove, and do not contact with the casing walls. A discharge conduit 8 enters the groove nearer to the axis than its bottom and removes water as the groove fills. Two grooves may be provided, and the arrangement may be modified.
