Abstract
461,599. Feeding nuts. GOLDBERG, H. May 26, 1936, No. 14857. [Class 117] [Also in Groups XXII and XXX] Nut blanks for a tapping-machine are supplied to a hopper 126, formed of two halves bolted together with a spacer 131 between so as to form a channel 132 along which the nuts lying on edge are swept by arms 133 attached to a shaft 134. The shaft 134 is rotated intermittently by a ratchet 135 and a pawl 136 pivoted at 137 to a cranked arm 138 pivoted to the machine frame at 139. A plunger 140 is reciprocated by a star-shaped cam to oscillate the arm 138 against the action of a spring 141. The blanks are prevented from reverse movement by a member 142 pivoted at 143 so as to enclose the guiding channel. Should the arms 133 attempt to feed too many blanks, the member 142 may oscillate to allow some blanks to escape into the hopper again.
