Abstract

460,422. Friction gearing. ELITE DIAMANTWERKE AKT.-GES. July 22, 1936, No. 20282. Convention date, May 8. [Class 80 (i)] [Also in Group VIII] The carriage A of a knitting-machine is connected by a releasable coupling member D with a casing E which is reciprocated on its own guides H by a rotating shaft G and inclined friction rollers F. At the end of each traverse of the carriage A the inclination of the rollers F is changed by means of the crank arms 1, sliding racks 2, gear 3, and crank 5. As shown in Fig. 1, the crank pin 6 slides between bars 7 carried by levers 9 fixed together with another lever 13 on a shaft 8. Pivoted on the shaft 8 is another lever 10 resiliently coupled by spring pins 18 with the lever 13 and operated by a cam 12. Adjustable stops 15 determine the rate of travel of the carriage A. In a modification the crank pin 6 engages a stop 22, Fig. 5, near the end of the traverse and is thrown into the reverse position by a spring 23 and toggle arrangement 21, 24.
