[Class 38 (v)] A regulating device for a thermal relay comprises a screw G adjustable in a nut L carried by a lever M which may also be adjustably moved about its pivot P by rotation of a nut Q. The screw G is adjusted by the makers of the apparatus and is then rendered inaccessible by a sealed cover T, regulation of the position of the point of the screw then being effected solely by the rotation of the nut Q, the head of which engages a forked end of the lever M. The screw G bears on a bimetallic strip C carrying a contact D which co-operates with a contact B on another bimetallic strip heated by current. The strip C serves so as to compensate for variations of ambient temperature. In the case of multipolar relays, the lever M may carry several screws G.
