[Class 146 (i)] A loose-leaf binder comprises elastic cords g which are passed through perforations in the leaves and in inwardly extending flaps e, f on the covers a, b and are secured in a state of tension by devices on the flap e which cause an enlargement of the cord adjacent thereto due to the contraction of the free ends of the cords when they are released, thus preventing the cords slipping back through the devices. The securing devices consist of clips p formed on a strip or strips o secured to the flap e by eyelets m, m<1> and spaced from the strip a distance less than the thickness of the cord g. The eyelets m between the clips are utilized for the passage of the cords through the flap e. To secure each cord, it is passed under the corresponding clip while in an extended condition and is then released. A similar cord t may be rotatably attached to the cover a by a bent-over metal strip secured to the cover, the cord t having hollow tags u for engagement by the tags h on the cords g to facilitate the removal or insertion of a leaf.
