457,419. Valve bags. DUBOIS, A., 12<bis>, Rue des Marronniers, Paris. Dec. 3, 1935, Nos. 33455 and 33456. Convention dates, Dec. 4, 1934 and March 18, 1935. [Class 94 (ii)] A valve bag is characterized in that when it is practically full there is automatically formed a baffle in the filling valve by the withdrawal of the filling tube, the opening through the valve assuming a sinuous course. When the bag is empty, upon insertion of the filling tube, the straight opening through the valve is reestablished. The valve 6 may be provided, by stapling &c., with a bendable lug 5, creased &c. at 7 and urged by a spring &c. 10 to position itself beneath the valve tube. An extension 9 of the lug 5 may be positioned in the bag closure or may be slitted to embrace the bottom seam if such is sewn. Alternatively, a lug 21 may be provided with a tongue 28, hinged at 23, which is caught by a hook &c. 26 on the filling tube 24, when the latter is withdrawn, to position itself as shown in Fig. 9. Gum may be supplied automatically to the filling tube 24, which may be flattened towards its delivery end, so that an adhesive sealing of the valve is effected. The lug 21 may be formed of two pieces of material, only one of which is provided with the tongue 28.
