[Classes 83 (ii) and 83 (iv)] [See also Group XXXVI] Forging.-Relates to connector pins for plug-and-socket connections of the type wherein the pin comprises two resilient prongs connected at one end by an eye or loop, for instance, as described in Specification 403,448, [Group XXXVI], and comprises a method of forming a supporting lug or extension on the external face of the eye or loop by displacing outwardly by means of a die, a relatively small portion of the material of the eye, while retaining the major portion undeformed. As shown in Figs. 1 and 3, the connector pin has resilient prongs 1 connected by an eye 2 with lugs 3 extending from each side thereof. The lugs are formed by supporting the pin on a mandrel 4 passing through the eye, and pressing a die 5 downwards. The die has a recess 6 to accommodate the major part of the top of the eye, and two cutting members 7 terminating short of the face of the die. When the die is pressed down, the members 7 displace some of the material downwardly and outwardly into the recesses 9 to form the lugs 3.
