[Class 80 (iii)] [See also Groups X and XXXI] A telescopic prop or shore comprises a uni directional frictior clutch to maintain the parts in supporting posi tion. The lower member b of the prop has secured to its head an externally screwed member f pro vided with an internally coned surface adaptec to coact with balls or rollers g carried by a sliding cage h. These balls or rollers are pressed into engagement with the upper prop member a by the coned surface under load and the cage is moved upwardly to release the prop by means of a screwed shell i on the member f engaging a shoulder on the cage h. The prop is provided with a pivoted head d and an extended foot c. According to the Provisional Specification wedges may be used instead of the balls or rollers g.
