[Class 37] The unfilmed cathode 17 of an electrolytic condenser or the like having an electrolyte and an anode 12 provided with a dielectric film is roughened where in contact with the electrolyte to increase its effective area. The roughening may be done by etching or other means and the effective area of the cathode should be the same as that of the anode which is itself roughened. Specification 433,818 is referred to.
